Islamabad: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf confirmed on Sunday that 16 injured people were rescued from the debris following an early morning explosion in Islamabad’s G7/2 sector, while six people, including a bride and groom, were tragically killed in the blast.
While speaking to a local media news channel, ADC said that initial reports suggested the explosion was caused by a cylinder blast, but further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause.
He confirmed that the blast occurred at a house where a wedding was taking place, claiming the lives of six people, including the bride and groom, while 16 others were rescued.
Of the injured, 10 sustained injuries, with one person suffering burns and the others were shifted to PIMS Hospital. He added that the investigation into the blast is continuing, with rubble being examined using the latest technology.
The operation to rescue those trapped under the debris began at 7:19 a.m. and authorities said additional findings from the ongoing investigation will be shared once available.
