Rawalpindi: Police have arrested 13 illegal arms holders and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession during a crackdown.

According to police spokesman, Sadiqabad, Waris Khan, Race Course, Taxila, Saddar Wah, Pirwadhai, and Bani police rounded up 13 illegal arm holders namely Jahanzaib, Shawal, Shahid, Abdul Rehman, Faisal and others and recovered 11 pistols 30 bore, a 12 bore rifle and ammunition.

Police have registered separate cases against the accused and further investigation was in progress.

SSP Operations commended police teams and instructed to take strict action against those carrying illegal weapons.

Hyderabad: The Sindh government has appointed Dr. Abdul Hameed Khooharo, Senior Medical Officer (BS-19), as the new District Health Officer (BS-19/20) for Jamshoro.

Previously serving as the Additional District Health Officer (BS-19) at the District Health Office in Dadu, Dr. Khooharo assumed his new position following the retirement of Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, on January 10.

According to an official notification issued on 2nd January, Dr. Khooharo will officially take charge of the post after Dr. Khoso’s retirement.

Peshawar: The PESCO on Thursday informed that due to maintenance work power supply will remain suspended from Abbottabad Grid Station on 4th January from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. resultantly consumers of Rawalkot, Damtoor, Bagnotar feeders will face inconvenience.

Likewise, it said power supply will remain suspended from Oghi Grid Station on 4th and 6th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Susal, Dilbori, Darband, Shergarh feeders will face inconvenience.

The power supply will remain suspended from Balakot grid station on 4th, 6th and 7th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Balakot, Boi, Ghari Habibullah, Kaghan feeders will face inconvenience.

The power supply will also remain suspended from Mansehra grid station on 4th 6th and 7th January from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Ghazikot, Ahsan Shaheed, City Mansehra, Chanai, Qlandarabad, Attar Sheesha, Shaheen Shahid, Sasain Nawab, Citi Dheri, Murad Pur, Khaki, Baffa, Shinkiyari, Dhodiyal, Pakhal feeders will face inconvenience.

Moreover, the power supply will remain suspended from Mansehra-Oghi Transmission Line on 7th January from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, resultantly consumers of Oghi, Battal and Jabri Power House grid connected will face inconvenience.

Peshawar: National Commission For Human Development (NCHD) in collaboration with Prisons' Department opened a Literacy Centre to impart education to inmates at Central Jail Haripur.

Superintendent Haripur Jail Hamid Azam Khan formally inaugurated the Literacy Centre the other day, said a press release issued here on Thursday. Besides, Deputy Director NCHD Khalid Mahmood and Field Officer, Iftikhar Ahmad, other officers of the Central Jail Haripur were also present on the occasion.

During the inaugural ceremony textbooks, note-books and other stationery material was distributed among the illiterate inmates of the prison, so they could be enabled to begin learning literacy.

Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent Central Jail Haripur, Hamid Azam Khan said that the purpose of the opening of literacy centre is to provide the opportunity of education to the prisoners, so during their stay in the prisons they may not only improve their academic qualification, rather also play active role in the society.

On this occasion, the officials of NCHD appreciated the steps taken for welfare of the prisoners and cooperating in imparting education to them. The steps, they said are the ample proofs of the efforts of the provincial government and concerned agencies for the welfare of the prisoners.

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police on Wednesday arrested some 10 criminal elements, including liquor and drug suppliers and illegal arms owners.

According to a police spokesman, the Chakri Police recovered 520 grams of hashish from accused Sajjad, while the Dhamial Police arrested Akhtar with 5 litres of liquor and Amin with 1 bottle of liquor.

Similarly, the Waris Khan Police held accused Asif with 7 litres of liquor and Shaf Ali with a 30 bore pistol. Likewise, the Sadiqabad Police also recovered a 30 bore pistol with ammunition from accused Shahzeb.

Meanwhile, during search operations four accused namely Shabbir, Asad, Daulat Khan and Nazar Khan were arrested for violation of the Tenancy Act.

Peshawar: The annual performance review meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122) was held at the provincial headquarters here Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by Director General Rescue 1122, Dr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan stated that Rescue 1122 provided timely services in over 241,000 emergencies during the year 2024.

Sharing details of these emergencies, he said rescue teams responded to over 151,000 medical emergencies and more than 22,000 traffic accidents.

Besides, over 52,000 referral emergencies, 4781 fire incidents, 699 drowning incidents, 3966 crime-related incidents, 277 cases of building and roof collapses,146 incidents involving explosions, including gas and cylinder blasts, 5661 other emergencies were successfully tackled.

Dr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan further informed that Rescue 1122 transported over 245,000 injured and patients to hospitals in a timely manner.

Additionally, through its Health Ambulance (Referral Service), critically injured and patients were shifted to better treatment facilities both within districts and to major hospitals in other districts. However, 4918 individuals lost their lives in various incidents.

The Director General emphasized that Rescue 1122 is providing equal services to the public not only in urban areas but also in merged districts and former FATA regions.

Focus on Tourist Sites, Rescue 1122 has also established rescue stations at various tourist destinations across the province, where both tourists and local residents are being provided with emergency assistance.

Dr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan concluded his address by reaffirming that the mission of Rescue 1122 is to protect lives and property, and the organization will continue to serve the public with the same dedication in the future.
