Lahore: The Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) on Thursday intensified efforts to provide improved sanitation services by launching a citywide anti-littering and enforcement drive in all major commercial markets.
As part of the initiative, Suthra Punjab’s Enforcement and Anti-Littering Squad had been mobilized to take strict action against individuals involved in illegal dumping and littering.
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sheryar Arif Khan led an anti-littering flag march in Gulberg.
The Anti-Littering Squad had also launched a cleanliness awareness drive in all major commercial markets to educate traders and the public on responsible waste disposal.
Shopkeepers found littering or dumping waste outside their premises would face legal action and fines.
Cleanliness Awareness activities were also being organized in major commercial markets to inform citizens about the ongoing enforcement drive. During his interaction with traders, CEO Sheryar Arif Khan urged shopkeepers to place dustbins outside their shops and refrain from throwing waste on roads and public spaces to avoid legal action and penalties.
He also visited Liberty Chowk to inspect the ongoing road-washing activity. He also appreciated the sanitation workers of Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore for performing their duties with dedication despite the extreme heat, and commended their efforts to maintain cleanliness across the city.
