Lahore: In a major relief for the Pakistan Railway Police, the government has approved a significant improvement in the force’s service structure by upgrading the pay scales of Constables, Head Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), fulfilling a long-standing demand of the department.
The approval was granted in line with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for institutional reforms and through the continuous efforts of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
According to the PR Police spokesperson on Thursday, under the revised structure, the pay scale of Constables has been upgraded from BPS-5 to BPS-7, Head Constables from BPS-7 to BPS-9, and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) from BPS-9 to BPS-11, bringing them at par with personnel serving in other law enforcement agencies.
The government expects the move to further improve the morale and professional performance of Railway Police personnel.
The Pakistan Railway Police thanked Federal Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi for
his special efforts, describing the upgradation as a historic milestone for the force.
Earlier, on the directions of the railway minister, recruitment in the Pakistan Railway Police was carried out strictly on merit, which significantly strengthened the force’s professional capacity.
The Pakistan Railway Police is currently performing its duties across the country by ensuring the safety of passengers and their belongings, protecting railway installations and providing effective security.
Inspector General of Pakistan Railway Police Muhammad Wisal Fakhar said the upgradation of pay scales would further boost the morale of officers and personnel, enabling them to perform their duties with greater dedication and professionalism.
