Lahore: Lahore Division Commissioner Nauman Yousaf on Thursday chaired a divisional meeting to review progress on Khata/Khewat distribution and revenue affairs, directing district administrations to expedite pending cases and strengthen monitoring mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners of all four districts of Lahore Division, additional commissioners and revenue officers. The commissioner sought detailed briefings from revenue officials and directed district administrations to hold at least one full-house weekly review meeting on price control and revenue matters. He also instructed Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue) to review the daily performance of revenue officers regarding Khewat distribution.
Nauman Yousaf said the Punjab government and the Board of Revenue had adopted a zero-tolerance policy for delays in resolving revenue-related issues. He added that the ongoing revenue digitisation programme was providing modern facilities and significant relief to citizens. Separately, the commissioner visited flood-affected Pathan Colony in Ferozewala to review relief and rehabilitation activities being carried out on the directions of Punjab chief minister.
Officials informed the commissioner that access routes to the locality had been restored while dewatering operations were continuing on the other side of the embankment. The commissioner directed authorities to complete the remaining work within two to three days.
He said six major dewatering sets were operating round the clock, while teams of the Municipal Committee and Irrigation Department were present on-site to complete restoration work. He said medical camps, livestock services, clean drinking water, food, security and sanitation facilities had been ensured for residents, adding that cooked meals, dry rations and veterinary assistance were also being provided to affected families.
In another development, the commissioner, accompanied by WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed, inspected rainwater drainage operations at Lakshmi Chowk, High Court Chowk, GPO Chowk and Qurtaba Chowk.
During the visit, WASA officials briefed him on ongoing drainage operations, saying teams were deployed across the city.
Nauman Yousaf said efforts were underway to clear rainwater from roads and low-lying areas in the shortest possible time, adding that continuous operations during rainfall helped reduce water accumulation quickly. He said WASA camps and disposal stations were functioning at full capacity and would remain ready to respond to any further rainfall.
He directed authorities to launch a comprehensive cleanliness drive immediately after completion of drainage operations to restore normal civic conditions.
