Rawalpindi: Chairman of the Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Lieutenant General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Khan on Wednesday said that a liberated Kashmir was indispensable for the stability of Pakistan.

Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan that was why the entire nation stood with their Kashmiri brethren, he added.

The international community should play its due role for the implementation of the United Nations resolutions for the liberation of Kashmir, he said while addressing a ceremony held in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Former Chairman of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Red Crescent, Colonel R Sardar Tahir Younis, in his remarks, said that the purpose of observing the Solidarity Day was to raise the morale of the Kashmiri people and support their struggle.

The Kashmiri people had been victims of Indian state terrorism and oppression for the past several decades and now it was time for the international community and human rights organizations to take concrete steps for their freedom from Indian yoke, he added.

Patron of the Minhaj-ul-Quran United Arab Emirates Malik Fakhar Zaman Adil said that by marking the Kashmir Solidarity Day the nation reaffirmed its commitment that ‘we have to play our role together in supporting the Kashmiri people. We stand with the sisters and brothers of occupied Kashmir, and will continue to raise the voice to the world against the violation of human rights by India.’

He urged the international community to play its role in supporting the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people and promoting peace and equality.

Prominent intellectuals Naeem Akram Qureshi, Naseem Usmani, Muhammad Bashir Raja, Tariq Rajput, Asia Haroon, Malik Azhar Awan, Shahbaz Khair, Syeda Sameera Raza and other speakers also addressed the gathering.

Peshawar: The Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K), long known for its breathtaking natural beauty and scenic landscapes, has transformed from a paradise into a nightmare for its inhabitants due to continued human rights abuses and state-sponsored terrorism unleashed by the Indian occupation forces since October 27, 1947.

The region, once praised by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir as “paradise on earth,” now tells a tragic story of human rights violations, extrajudicial killings, and state-sanctioned terrorism.

“The story of IIOJ and K is one of constant oppression, and for its people, it is an ongoing trauma where life became a nightmare for them,” Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Voice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir’s Peoples League told reporter.

Since the partition of the subcontinent, he said the Jammu and Kashmir region has been the epicenter of Indian brutalities and violence, with its people enduring unimaginable hardships.

He said India went against UN Security Council resolutions by revoking the special status of IIOJK on August 5, 2019.

Manzoorul Haq, former Ambassador said that the fundamental right of self-determination to Kashmiris to decide about their future had been guaranteed under the United Nations Resolutions which remains unfulfilled despite the passing of 78 years, and the global community’s apathy to their long-suffering has only added to their misery.

He said India’s military occupation is not just a sheer violation of international law, but also a blatant disregard for the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted in 1948.

Ambassador Manzoor said that Pakistan remains resolute in its commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people, both politically, diplomatically, and morally, as they continue to demand their right to self-determination.

He urged world superpowers to act swiftly to prevent further bloodshed and ensure that the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people of IIOJK are finally upheld.

Mirpurkhas: In a successful operation, the police arrested an accused who stole Rs 1.8 million from a house and recovered the stolen money.

SSP Mirpurkhas, Shabbir Ahmed Sethar told reporter that an incident was reported in which an unknown person had stolen money from Hakim Ali Arain’s house in Goth Chaudhry Barkat under the jurisdiction of Old Mirpur Police Station and escaped.

Taking notice of this incident, a police team under supervision of SHO, Old Mirpur Police Station, Asghar Alam Haliputo, with the help of a technical team arrested the accused and recover the money in less than 24 hours.

The person who stole the money was none other than Zohaib son of Arshad Arain, the nephew of the complainant, he said.

Hyderabad: The Government of Sindh has announced to organize a 3-day sports festival at Almanzar Jamshoro river from 7th February (Friday).

According to the Spokesman of Provincial Sports department different kinds of traditional and latest competitions will be held in the event including Boating, Wrestling, Chase, Tug of War, Riding, teach ball and through ball.
