Mirpur: People of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir will join hands to form a human chain on Mangla Bridge on February 5 to mark the nationwide Kashmir Solidarity Day to reiterate fullest solidarity with the people of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir state in their just and principled struggle for freedom of the motherland from Indian forced and unlawful occupation.

All arrangements to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day in the lake district of Mirpur AJK in a befitting manner are being given final touches, said Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz while chairing a high-level meeting in connection with the scheduled Solidarity Day.

Elaborating on the scheduled program, the DC said that the caravan of masses will leave for Mangala Bridge, the gateway to this part of Kashmir, from the District Courts compound in Mirpur exactly at 9: 00 a.m. on February 05.

The mass public rally consisting of vehicles will be taken out for Mangala Bridge from Y Cross.

Sirens will be sounded at 9: 55 a.m. After a minute of silence, a human chain will be formed by joining hands with the masses coming from the adjoining Jhelum district at Mangla Bridge, connecting Pakistan with this part of its jugular vein-Kashmir.

The mammoth Kashmir Solidarity Day ceremony will be held at the junction of Mangla Bridge, marking unity and solidarity between the people of Azad Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan.

The political and public representative leadership from both Pakistan and AJK will address the major Kashmir Solidarity Day rally at the Mangla bridge.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz invited all the political, social, religious parties, lawyers, trade associations, Chamber of Commerce, media representatives, civil society of Mirpur district besides the government and private sectors employees, teachers and staff of schools, colleges, universities to participate in the scheduled national program to let the world know that Kashmiris and Pakistanis are bound by the eternal blood ties of the world and no power can separate them from each other, he added.

Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that the scheduled February 05 Kashmir Solidarity Day would be observed with traditional zest and zeal at a national level to express complete solidarity with the people of the Indian illegally occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir state.

He expressed these views while talking to a PPP AJK delegation, besides a local government representative's deputation that called on him separately in the state metropolis on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the PM expressed that Kashmiris will never compromise on their fundamental right, the right to self-determination. Pakistan, he said, has always been a strong proponent and a fearless advocate of Kashmiris' rights at every international forum.

Lauding the local government's role in development at the grassroots level, he stated that the local body's role was crucial for sustainable development. He said that funds worth one billion rupees have been given to local government representatives.

"Steps are being taken to remove the sense of deprivation amongst the masses," he added.

Terming electricity theft as a major challenge, he said there was a dire need to stop this shameful practice that causes huge loss to the national kitty. He said that there was no rationale behind providing a uniform subsidy (three rupees per unit) to a consumer who uses less than a hundred units and the one who consumes limitless electricity.

Urging citizens to avoid misuse of electricity, the PM said that technical defects were arising in the electricity feeders due to illegal use of electricity.

He said that steps have been taken for the storage of drinking water in the capital city and improving infrastructure. Of those who were part of the delegations included Deputy Mayor Municipal Corporation Muzaffarabad. Khalid Awan, Member Municipal Corporation Muzaffarabad, Asim Naqvi, Zaheer Bukhari, and Umar Abbasi.

Whereas the PPP delegation was comprised of Deputy General Secretary PPP Sheikh Azhar, Shaukat Rathore Khaksar, Tariq Hameed Qureshi, Sunny Mir, Zaheer Sheikh, and Naseem Shah. Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and Minister for Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mian Abdul Waheed were also present on the occasion.

Faisalabad: Five passengers sustained multiple injuries during a road accident in the area of Madina Town police station.

Rescue-1122 spokesman said here on Sunday that a passenger van fell into fields from Canal Road due to over-speeding near Gattwala.

As a result, Ashir (28), Amanullah (28), Khurram Habib (30), Hasan Abdullah (26) and Kazim (33) received serious injuries and Rescue 1122 shifted them to Allied Hospital-I after providing them with the first aid, he added.

Chiniot: On the second day of the three-day celebrations of the 147th annual Urs of Hazrat Pir Shah Salman Taunsvi and Hazrat Pir Phatan of Taunsa Sharif and the country's renowned elder Hazrat Khwaja Ziauddin Chinioti, a memorable Naat and Qawwali mehfil was organized at Dabar Alia in which renowned Naat Khawans from all over the country participated and presented their poetry.

After this, Arif Hussain Lonewala, a student of international Qawwal Ustad Allah Datta Lonewala, presented Qawwalis and received a lot of applause.

A large number of Sajjada Nashin Pir Khwaja Nazir Ali Chinioti, Sahibzada Khwaja Hasher Ali, citizens and disciples were also present on the occasion. After the mehfil, Sajjada Nashin Pir Khwaja Nazir Ali Chinioti also offered a heartfelt prayer. Later, a special langar was also distributed.

The Urs celebrations will conclude today.

Dera ismail khan: Dera police during the successful operations against the criminal elements arrested three outlaws including drug dealers, 2340 grams of hashish and weapon recovered from their possession in the limits of Shorkot police station.

According to the police spokesman, on the direction of the District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada operations against criminal elements are continuing indiscriminately.

Shorkot police station under the leadership of SDPO ASP Muhammad Nauman along with SHO Khanzada Khan seized 2300 grams of hashish and 01 magazine of Kalashnikov with 07 cartridges from the possession of drug dealer Qudratullah son of Sarfraz resident of District Tank.

Another drug peddler Zia ur Rehman son of Nizamuddin resident of Shorkot was arrested while police recovered 48 grams of hashish from his possession.

Meanwhile, Rahmatullah son of Alam Sher resident of Himmat was arrested and police recovered 12 bore repeater gun with 25 cartridges from his possession.

The police registered the separate cases against the arrested persons and started further investigations.

Peshawar: The Peshawar Division has finalized all arrangements for the first polio eradication campaign of the year.

All Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to remain in the field to oversee the campaign, ensuring smooth execution. Polio teams have been directed to report to their designated points by 7: 30 a.m. and commence vaccinations by 8: 00 p.m, said a press release.

The police have been tasked with providing foolproof security for the polio teams, while Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to strictly implement the micro plan designed for the campaign.

Daily review meetings will be held every evening to assess the day's progress and plan for the following day. Revenue teams and Secretaries of Village and Neighborhood Councils will also accompany polio teams to support the vaccination efforts.

A video conference, chaired by Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud here on Saturday,was attended by Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, District Health Officers, municipal officials, and other relevant administrative officers from all five districts of the division, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand, and Khyber.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners briefed the Commissioner on preparations for the campaign, strategies to convince hesitant parents, the development of the micro plan, and measures for ensuring the campaign's success.

District Police Officers also provided updates on security arrangements and other logistical measures.

Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud emphasized that all resources will be utilized to ensure the success of the polio eradication campaign.
