Peshawar: Capital City Police have launched a special crackdown to eliminate drug trafficking from society, particularly to protect the younger generation from the harmful effects of crystal meth (ice).

During the first day of the operation, police registered 38 cases and arrested 42 suspects involved in drug smuggling and sale, said the police spokesman.

Among those arrested were members of inter-provincial drug smuggling networks and suppliers distributing narcotics in Peshawar and other districts.

The crackdown had specifically targeted individuals selling the highly dangerous drug ice. In the past 24 hours, law enforcement has seized over 31 kilograms of ice, 27 kilograms of hashish, 3 kilograms of heroin, and multiple bottles of liquor.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Masood Ahmed have directed police teams to further intensify the anti-narcotics drive.

They have also instructed authorities to organize special seminars in educational institutions to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs on youth, particularly students.

Additionally, efforts will be made to educate the general public through various awareness campaigns.

To strengthen the crackdown, police have been ordered to closely monitor individuals previously involved in drug-related activities. Divisional SPs and SDPOs have been assigned special tasks to ensure the effectiveness of the operation and prevent drug trafficking in the region.

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi District Police on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi have initiated a crackdown against professional beggars and managed to arrest 165 during last two days.

According to a police spokesman, Police conducted operations against professional beggars and their facilitators in various areas, resulting in the arrest of 165 professional beggars during last two days and filed cases against them. Additionally, underage children were transferred to the shelter home.

The CPO has issued clear instructions to the police officers to continue daily operations against beggars under their supervision.

He urged the citizens not to give alms to the professional beggars and discourage them.

If professional beggars are spotted in commercial or residential areas, the citizens are encouraged to immediately call the police at 'Police Helpline-15'.

Police Stations, Anti-Beggary Squad and Traffic Police were conducting operations and netting professional beggars particularly from main roads and intersections.

The spokesman informed that the crackdown was launched according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Multan: Sui Northern Gas Limited (SNGL) UFG Control Task Force on Sunday disconnected four meters over violations.

According to a spokesperson,During the operation,three meters were disconnected over using for commercial purposes and one meter which was taken off by consumer recovered and seized.

The company has vowed to continue these efforts to combat gas theft and illegal activities,ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to consumers.

Khanewal: Unknown armed suspects gunned down the broker and looted cash worth Rs.five million over resistance during the dacoity bid here in the limits of Serai Sidhu police station on Sunday.

According to police reports,four unidentified armed suspects on motorcycles intercepted a vehicle carrying local traders near Nandpur village.The robbers opened discriminate fire on Muhammad Hussain and he died on the spot and the robbers fled away from the scene.

Police cordoned off the area and teams have been formed to trace and fleeing suspects.

Hyderabad: A review was held regarding the preparations for the anti-polio campaign, under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Bilal Ahmed Memon, which will continue from February 3 to February 9, 2025.

The meeting was held on Sunday at his office in Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad, attended by DIG Hyderabad Range Tariq Razaq Dahrijo, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain al-Abidin Memon, and officials from the health department. Deputy Commissioners of Jamshoro, Dadu, Thatta, Sijawal, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan participated via video link.

Addressing the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad stated that the last campaign in December 2024 had shown good performance with the cooperation of all the SSPs and anti-polio staff in the division, stressing that the campaign would begin tomorrow.

He emphasized the need for intensive efforts in the ongoing polio campaign to ensure the complete eradication of this deadly disease: Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad further mentioned that the annual Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar will also be celebrated in the same month in February, special attention must be paid to the anti-polio campaign before and after the Urs days, as a large number of devotees from various cities and regions will participate - he stated that to raise awareness, after the evening prayer today, information about the polio disease will be particularly given in mosques so that the public cooperates with the administration to eradicate it. This disease has been eradicated from its roots - said Hyderabad Commissioner Bilal Ahmed Memon.

Special attention will also be given no child might be missed from taking polio vaccine. On this occasion, DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razaq Dahrijo stated that the anti-polio campaign is a national duty; just like in the past, our department will continue its full cooperation, including lady police constables. He said that during the polio campaign, police teams would be prepared to timely address any possible unpleasant incidents, Dr. Jamshid Khanzada provided a detailed briefing on the polio situation and shared detailed information about the polio coverage in Hyderabad during the previous year 2024, along with the targets achieved.

Rawalpindi: Gungmandi police here on Sunday organized an awareness walk against kite flying and aerial firing, said a police spokesman.

He informed that Gungmani police on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, organized awareness walk for complete prevention of kite flying and aerial firing.

He said that a series of awareness walks were conducted regarding prevention of kite flying and aerial firing.

Station House Officer (SHO) Gungmani Police Station, several other police officers, citizens, traders and students participated in the walk.

The spokesman said that walks are being organized in different areas of the district to spread awareness to the citizens about the harms of kite flying and aerial firing.

Special awareness pamphlets were distributed during the walk and awareness banners were also displayed at different points.

Kite flying is a dangerous game and it's a crime. After the amendment in the law, kite flying is a non-bailable offence, and the accused could be punished with imprisonment from 3 to 7 years and a fine amounting to Rs 500,000 to 5 million, he added.

He further said that on the directives of CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, all available resources are being utilized to prevent kite flying.

The CPO had urged the citizens especially parents to come forward and play a role to discourage kite flying and aerial firing, he informed.
