Peshawar:A robbery attempt turned violent in Mardan's City Police Station jurisdiction on Wednesday when robbers opened fire on a police team during a checkpoint.

The police retaliated, arresting one suspect while another managed to escape.

The incident occurred when police signaled two individuals on a motorcycle to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects fired at the police in an attempt to flee. The police responded immediately, wounding and capturing one of the suspects, while the other fled the scene, abandoning the motorcycle.

The arrested suspect, identified as Abdul Basir, son of Yaqoob Khan, is a habitual offender with a record of theft, armed robbery, and drug-related cases. He was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment following his capture.

Authorities recovered a 30-bore pistol and a 125cc motorcycle from the arrested suspect. A manhunt has been launched to locate and arrest the fleeing accomplice.

Muzaffargarh:At least three passengers were injured when a passenger vehicle overturned at Sehrani bypass.

The vehicle was going from Layyah to Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to rescuers, the van overturned due to reckless driving, as reported by eyewitnesses. Two of the injured, Dilshad Hussain (50), son of Muhammad Abdullah, and Mushtaq Hussain (42), son of Khadim Hussain, sustained minor injuries. They were treated on the spot and discharged after providing them with the first aid.

The third victim, Shahzad Ahmad (40), son of Ghulam Rasool, suffered severe injuries. He was shifted to the Rural Health Center (RHC) for further medical treatment.

All three injured individuals were residents of Basti Dogar Kalasra in the Layyah district.

Dera ghazi khan:The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Dera Ghazi Khan has announced that the annual Matric and Intermediate Part-I examinations for 2025 will begin on March 4 and April 29, respectively. A board spokesperson stated that the use of social media to circulate or promote question papers during or after the exams is strictly prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted under the Punjab Universities and Boards of Education Malpractice Act 1950, which prescribes penalties of up to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000.

The spokesperson further cautioned that capturing images or recording videos of question papers, or any attempt to disrupt the examination process, constitutes a legal offense. The board has urged all candidates and examination staffers to adhere to regulations to avoid legal consequences.

Rawalpindi:Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Rawalpindi Kashif Zulfiqar here on Tuesday night made a surprise visit to Cantt and R.A.Bazar police stations.

The SSP reviewed the police station buildings, front desks, records, and lock-ups to ensure the provision of all possible resources to police stations.

DSP Cantt and SHOs briefed the SSP Operation about the performance of the police stations.

The SSP also inspected the facilities being provided to the public and directed that merit and justice must be provided to the people.

Bahawalpur:Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Musarrat Jabeen visited the e-Khidmat Centre Bahawalpur and reviewed the available facilities there.

She inspected various service countres, including the 'Meri Chhat, Mera Ghar' countre. She interacted with the individuals at the e-Khidmat Centre and gathered information about the services provided. She instructed the relevant officers and staff to ensure that all facilities were provided to citizens in a timely and transparent manner.

E-Khidmat Centre Manager Ahad Gardezi briefed the commissioner about the services offered at the centre. He said the e-Khidmat Centre Bahawalpur provides various services under one roof, including identity card counters, learner driving licences, children's B forms, domicile certificates, character certificates, property ownership documents, approval of construction plans, excise facilities, and land record management information systems.

Musarrat Jabeen directed that all services be delivered in a timely, standard, and transparently and that no effort be spared in public welfare initiatives.

Later, the commissioner planted a tree in the lawn of the e-Khidmat Centre.

Peshawar:The district administration of Peshawar, along with the Capital Metropolitan Government and PDA, carried out a joint operation on Arbab Road to demolish dozens of illegal constructions and encroachments.

Following the provincial government's orders, officials from PDA and the Capital Metropolitan Government took part in the operation, with heavy police presence to ensure safety.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Sarmad Saleem Akram, stated that the encroachments were causing problems for pedestrians and disrupting traffic. The illegal constructions were removed using heavy machinery.

The operation will continue across Peshawar, and strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to re-establish encroachments.
