Dr Zahid Iqbal successfully completes PhD dissertation at AUP

Peshawar: The University of Agriculture Peshawar (AUP) on Monday proudly announced the successful PhD dissertation defense of Dr Zahid Iqbal, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Rural Development, Institute of Development Studies and a dedicated officer in the Excise and Taxation Department.

Dr Zahid Iqbal completed his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof Dr Malik Inayatullah Jan.

His dissertation, titled "Access to Inclusive and Quality Education for Sustainable Rural Development in the Newly Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," was well-received and endorsed by esteemed international professors from Portugal and Spain.

During the defense seminar, Dr Zahid skillfully addressed questions posed by the participants, demonstrating his depth of knowledge and commitment to the subject matter.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Dean of the Faculty of Rural Social Sciences, Prof Dr Zafarullah Khan Marwat; Prof Dr Zafar Mahmood; Chairman of the Department of Entomology, Dr Amjad Usman; DASAR Prof Dr Muhammad Sajid; Dr. Muhammad Shafi Malik; Dr Shahzad Ahmed; Dr. Ishrat Naz; Dr Tahseenullah; along with faculty members and students.

All attendees extended their heartfelt congratulations to both Dr Zahid Iqbal and his supervisor, Prof. Malik Inayatullah Jan, on this academic achievement.

They expressed optimism that Dr Zahid's research will significantly contribute to sustainable rural development, particularly in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Gumbat College honors retired principals, professors

Kohat: Principal Government Degree College Gumbat, Kohat Dr Wazir Shadan arranged a special program in honor of the retired principals and professors of his college, here the other day.

TDCP introduces double decker bus service in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab introduced double decker bus service

to explore Faisalabad for the general public and students of schools, colleges and universities.

According to official sources on Monday, the main terminal of the bus is Bagh-e-Jinnah and it will cover a 28-km distance on various city roads. The estimated travel time will be 3-hours with one-and-a-half hours stay.

The ticket price general is Rs 500 and students /children under 19 is Rs 400. Friday and Sunday will be for the general public, however, the bus can move on other days also if its seats are filled.

The special booking for 60 seats in a bus for a student's group will be in Rs 20,000 and for general

public with family Rs 25,000 per tour.

The TDCP also offered free travelling to Senior Citizens (65 plus) CNIC required, kids under-5 (FRC required) and disabled persons (card required).

Over 3000 kg emergency medicines delivered to Parachinar via helicopter

Peshawar: On the directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, over 3,000 kilograms of emergency medicines have been airlifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Parachinar via helicopter.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, stated that the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Parachinar Hospital had reported a critical shortage of medicines.

In response, essential medical supplies were promptly dispatched.

Additionally, other necessary items were sent to cater to the needs of residents amid the harsh cold weather. Due to security concerns and blocked roads caused by severe weather conditions, helicopters are being used for the transportation of medicines and supplies.

This timely initiative ensures continued medical care for the residents of Parachinar during this challenging time.
