Sukkur: A brazen gun attack on Monday targeted former PPP MPA and MNA Mir Ghalib Khan Domki's vehicle in Shikarpur, leaving two guards dead and four others, including Domki, his wife and grandson, injured. The incident occurred at Faizo Larro near Mirzapur Police picket of Khanpur Police Station on Sunday night where robbers opened fire on the vehicle after the driver refused to stop.

According to SSP Shikarpur Shahzaib Chachar, the police have sealed all exit and entrance routes to apprehend the culprits. In a surprising twist, the SSP revealed that the guards' retaliatory firing killed Nadir Mirani, a most-wanted criminal with a Rs1 million bounty on his head.

Domki's nephew, Zain-ul-Abideen, confirmed that his uncle's condition is stable, while two guards lost their lives and two others were injured. Domki himself reported that 15-20 armed men attacked their vehicle, attempting to loot him.

The police have shifted the deceased guards to Khanpur Taluka Hospital, while the injured are receiving treatment at Sukkur hospital. The investigation is ongoing, with the police working to apprehend the remaining culprits.

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to issue a notice to the contractor working on the Balakot Hydro-power Project, 300 MW, the largest hydro-power project in the province at Mansehra district, said a press release issued here on Monday.

Similarly, expressing strong displeasure over the slow pace of work on the 69 MW Lawi Hydropower Project in Chitral district, the concerned contractor has been warned to take immediate steps to complete the project as soon as possible, otherwise any further delay is intolerable.

In this context, a special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP on Energy Engr. Tariq Sadozai and Secretary Energy and Power Muhammad Zubair Khan.

During the briefing, it was informed that the project will be completed with the financial support of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and AIIB i.e. Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Moreover, the completion of the project will bring an annual income of Rs. 15 billion to the province. During the meeting Secretary Energy Muhammad Zubair Khan expressed his anger at the delay in the design and E and M work of the project by the Chinese construction company Gazoba China and the Turkish consultant company Dolsar team working on the project.

While, SACM on Energy Tariq Sadozai urged the contractor, consultant and project director working on the project to speed up the work on dam site of the project and issued orders to start the construction work that was stopped at some places immediately.

Later, Secretary Power reprimanded the concerned project director for the slowness of work on the Lawi HPP and warned that further delay in the energy projects is intolerable.

Faisalabad: A man was killed and two children were injured in an accident near here

on Monday. According to the Rescue-1122, Khalid with two children Abdullah and Wajiha was traveling

on a motorcycle when a vehicle hit them near Zia Market, Rajana Road, Samundri. As a result, Kahlid died on the spot while the children suffered injuries who were shifted to the THQ hospital, Samundri.

Peshawar: Noted animal lover and founder of Lucky Animal Protection Shelter (LAPS) in Peshawar, Zeba Masood has been honoured with an award at recently held Pakistan's first International Animal and Human Rights conference held in Lahore.

Supreme Court Judge, Justice Athar Minallah presented `Champions Award' to Zeba Masood during the conference.

Founded in 2017, LAPS is the first ever animal shelter home in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which provide care, rescue, treatment, protection to hundreds of injured, ignored and even disabled stray dogs.

The center has also contributed a big role in fight against deadly rabies diseases by neutering hundreds of stray dogs brought for shelter and treatment.

During the devastating floods of 2022, Zeba and her husband Javed put their own lives at risk to rescue more than 200 dogs sheltered at LAPS, located near the Swat River in Charsadda district.

In the dead of night, as floodwaters began rising, the couple took emergency measures to safely relocate the animals, showcasing their unwavering dedication to animal welfare.

Zeba's tireless efforts in animal protection have earned her international recognition. Admirers from around the world frequently express their appreciation on social media for LAPS's impactful work.

In 2021, Reema Hannan, a young expatriate Pakistani living in the UK, participated in a marathon in Manchester to raise funds for the shelter, highlighting the global support LAPS continues to receive.

Speaking after receiving the award, Zeba said, 'This recognition has strengthened my resolve to continue helping maltreated, injured, and starving stray dogs.'

Peshawar: : Following the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali, a significant consignment of emergency medicines has been dispatched to Upper Kurram, stated Secretary Health Adeel Shah on Sunday.

The medicines have been handed over to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Parachinar to effectively manage the emergency situation, Secretary Health Adeel Shah confirmed.

A total of 4,000 kilograms of medicines worth 5 million PKR are being transported through two flights of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's MI-17 helicopter, he added.

Due to persistent road blockages and extreme cold weather, the demand for medicines in Kurram has significantly increased, explained Secretary Health Adeel Shah.

The MS of Parachinar had previously informed the authorities about the anticipated shortage of medicines, prompting a timely response from the Health Department to ensure the provision of medicines before any crisis, he noted.

In addition to emergency supplies, routine medicines are also being dispatched via helicopter for both Upper and Lower Kurram, confirmed Secretary Health Adeel Shah.

Sargodha: Payments process of Benazir Income Support Program under the recent released tranche of December 2024 has reached 40.07 % completion in Sargodha District .

Deputy Director BISP Sargodha Madam Raazia Asim informed reporter on Sunday that a total of 63,019 deserving beneficiaries out of 157,268 so far received their payments including out of total 12,700 registered women beneficiaries in Bhulwal,3056 beneficiaries have been taken Rs 10,500 each, whereas 10,861 out of 38404 in Bhera,3,129 out of 20,651 in Kotmomin,10,189 out of 12,430 in Sahiwal,27,344 out of 68,537 in Sargodha, 7,962 out of 16,309 in Shah purr and 7,535 out of 15,780 beneficiaries in Sillanwali.

She assured that the remaining beneficiaries would get their payments soon.

She also informed that 11 camp site were set up across the district and it's tehsils to facilitate the distribution.

She herself monitoring the payments process by visiting payments centre on daily basis to ensure smooth process,she concluded.
