Rawalpindi: A training workshop to enhance the capacity of police investigation officers continued on second day Friday at the Rawalpindi Police Lines Headquarters.

Deputy District Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti and Law Instructor Police College Sihala Muhammad Imran gave lectures to the investigation officers on the investigation of cases, including rape, child abuse, kidnapping, kidnapping for ransom and other cases.

The participants were sensitized to ways and means of solving high-profile cases and collecting evidence of crimes, and getting the accused punished. Lapses in investigations carried out by police officers were also pointed out.

The IOs were informed how the investigation could be conducted a coordinated and modern scientific manner.

According to a police spokesman, training workshops were being held to further improve the performance of investigation officers as an effective investigation played an important role in bringing the accused to justice and providing justice to the victim.

Multan: Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel displayed remarkable composure to rescue Pakistan's faltering innings on the opening day of the first Test against the West Indies, which began late due to fog.

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel's partnership injected stability and determination into the innings, countering the disciplined bowling of the West Indies. The resilience frustrated the visitors as they began to rebuild Pakistan's innings.

The delayed start and low visibility due to morning fog added to the day's challenges. The match will resume tomorrow with Pakistan hoping to build on their recovery, while the West Indies will look to capitalize on the early breakthroughs provided by bowling attack.

Muzaffargarh: A man allegedly killed his brother over a domestic issue in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed area on Friday.

According to Rescue officials,two sons of Ghulam Sadiq,resident of Chak 546/TDA had an altercation over a domestic issue.The dispute escalated and one brother opened fire and killed 24-year-old Abdul Hamid on the spot.

Upon getting information,the rescue team reached the spot and shifted the body to rural health center.

Saddar police launched investigation.

Rawalpindi: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) while conducting 10 operations managed to recover 174.616 kg drugs worth over Rs 38.4 million and arrested eight suspects, said an ANF Headquarters spokesman here on Friday.

He informed that 1 kg hashish was recovered from two suspects arrested near a university on the service road in Rawalpindi.

The arrested suspect confessed to selling drugs to the students of different educational institutions.

116 grams weed was recovered from two parcels sent from the UK at a courier office in Rawalpindi.

6.8 kg ice drug hidden in ladies' clothes was recovered from a parcel sent to New Zealand through a courier office in Quetta.

90 kg hashish and 50 kg ice were recovered from an uninhabited area of Pasni in Balochistan.

9.6 kg hashish was recovered from a suspect rounded up near a hotel in Sohrab Goth, Karachi.

5 kg ice drug, 1.2 kg hashish and 500 grams heroin were recovered from the possession of an accused held near M-1 Motorway Islamabad.

4.8 kg opium was recovered from a vehicle intercepted near Chenab Toll Plaza G.T Road Gujrat and two accused were arrested during the operation.

2 kg hashish and 1.5 kg ice were recovered from the possession of an accused arrested near a petrol pump in Hyderabad Jamshoro.

1.1 kg heroin and 1 kg ice were recovered from an accused near Turkey Toll Plaza Jhelum.

Cases have been registered against the arrested accused under the Narcotics Control Act and further investigations are under process.

Peshawar: Two individuals were severely injured following an explosion of suspected explosive material near the Sheikhano Killa tomb in the Takht Bhai area.

According to initial reports, children had gathered scrap material and set it on fire, triggering the blast of the alleged explosive substance.

The explosion left two people who were working at a nearby poultry shop, seriously injured.

Rescue 1122 medical teams quickly arrived at the scene, providing immediate medical assistance to the victims.

They were then transferred to the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) for further treatment.

Police registered the case and started further investigation.

Chiniot: To deal with any untoward incident, a mock exercise was conducted at the Deputy commissioner (DC) Office and Safety Fuse Manufacturing Company under the auspices of the police.

Punjab Police, Elite Force, Rescue 1122, Bomb Disposal Squad, Special Branch and other institutions participated in the mock exercise.

During the mock exercise, mock exercises of terrorist attacks on the DC office and a Safety Fuse Manufacturing Company were conducted.

In this regard, District Police Officer (DPO) Abdullah Ahmed said that the mock exercise has been organized to deal with any emergency situation. The performance of various institutions was checked during the mock exercise.

He added that the purpose of conducting the mock exercise is to send a message to the terrorists that the police is always ready to fight. He further said that all means will be used to ensure the establishment of law and order in the city.
