Lahore: Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) have opened company registrations for the Chief Minister IT Internship Programme (CMITIP), aimed at providing young people with practical industry experience and preparing them for careers in the IT sector.
Under the programme, IT companies, BPOs, ISPs, telecom companies and IT departments of banks can register as partner companies, says a press release issued here on Tuesday. A total of 30, 000 internship opportunities would be offered, with selected interns receiving a monthly stipend of Rs 50, 000. Participating companies will also receive Rs 12, 500 per intern per month as financial support.
Registered companies will have access to pre-screened young talent, allowing them to select interns according to their requirements. Interns will gain hands-on experience with modern technologies, industry-standard tools and professional work environments, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and market requirements. To qualify, companies must be registered with PSEB or the relevant regulatory authority, have an operational office in Punjab, and provide adequate infrastructure and a conducive working environment.
In his message, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, ‘The programme would strengthen industry linkages with young talent, expand opportunities for practical training and contribute to developing a skilled workforce for Punjab’s growing IT sector.
