Quetta: A special ceremony for the distribution of the IGFC Scholarship was held at the University of Turbat (UoT).
According to press release issued here on Friday, Brigadier Omer Tahir, Commandant of the Mekran Scouts, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony was attended by UoT Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Languages, Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor Baloch (TI), Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Muzaffir Hussain, Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, as well as faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students.
During the event, Commandant Mekran Scouts presented a scholarship cheque of Rs. 1 million specifically for Law students to the Dean of the Faculty of Law.
Another scholarship cheque of Rs. 1 million was handed over to the Vice Chancellor for students across other departments.
This special scholarship fund was restored by Major General Bilal Sarfraz, IGFC South Balochistan, at a formal request by the Vice Chancellor and the students to support talented but deserving students.
Addressing the students, Brigadier Omer Tahir encouraged students to prioritize their academic pursuits. He urged graduates to play an active role in the region’s development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan expressed his profound gratitude to Major General Bilal Sarfraz for restoring the IGFC scholarship.
He said that while the region was rich in talent, many students face hurdles to pursue higher education due to financial constraints, adding that the restoration of the IGFC scholarship would provide essential relief to our needy and deserving students, allowing them to continue their education.
The faculty and students of UoT highly appreciated the contributions of FC Balochistan South for promoting peace, enhancing educational opportunities and driving socio-economic development across the province.
