Multan: Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Karim Khan on Wednesday announced the establishment of a special Asset Management Squad to ensure round-the-clock protection and maintenance of the nine-kilometre-long Multan Avenue.
Chairing a meeting regarding the protection of Multan Avenue, the Commissioner said that safeguarding public assets was a shared responsibility of the government and citizens. The meeting decided to formulate a special protection mechanism for Multan Avenue, with the proposed Asset Management Squad comprising officials from various relevant departments.
Aamir Karim said the special squad would carry out 24-hour monitoring and patrolling of the avenue and immediately identify encroachments, illegal road cuts and other violations. He said photographs and complete details of any violation would be promptly shared with the focal person of the concerned department, who would be responsible for ensuring immediate action.
The Commissioner said a direct coordination mechanism would also be established among all relevant departments to ensure a swift response to complaints and violations. He directed that the performance of the special squad be reviewed on a daily basis, observing that the first 30 days would be particularly crucial for establishing an effective and sustainable protection system.
The meeting was attended by officers of the departments concerned.
