Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired a meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee at Darbar Hall Wednesday, to review arrangements for the September 2026 Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs) campaign. The meeting discussed in detail the planning and preparations for anti-polio campaign, including team formation, security arrangements, micro-planning, vaccine availability, and public awareness. Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments, including Health, Police, Education, and other relevant institutions, to ensure close coordination and full cooperation for the successful implementation of the campaign. He emphasized that no child should be left unvaccinated during the campaign and instructed officials to ensure the achievement of targets in every union council. He also issued directives regarding proper training of polio teams, timely completion of micro-plans, maintaining vaccine availability and cold chain, ensuring security of teams, specia
l monitoring in sensitive areas, and updating lists of missed children. Deputy Commissioner said that along with government efforts, the cooperation of parents, teachers, religious scholars, civil society, and media is essential for complete eradication of polio. District Health Officer Dr. Mudassir Hussain Domki and Polio Focal Person Dr. Aftab Khaskheli informed the meeting that special anti-polio campaign in Shaheed Benazirabad would be conducted from September 21 to 27, 2026. During campaign, 357,304 children under the age of five across the district would be administered polio drops. He said that for this purpose, 1,073 mobile teams, 22 transit teams, and 68 fixed teams have been formed.
They further said that preparations, including training of teams and development of micro-plans, are underway. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Saddam Hussain Memon, District Manager PPHI Zakir Hussain Samo, DSP Police and officers from Health, Education, Local Government, and other relevant departments.
