Sargodha: Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Monday directed the formation of a working group under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner to develop permanent and effective solutions to the city’s growing traffic problems. The commissioner had asked the working group to submit a comprehensive and workable proposal, along with practical recommendations, within one week. These directions were issued during a meeting chaired by the commissioner to review traffic congestion, parking issues, and urban facilities in the city area. During the meeting, various proposals were discussed to improve traffic flow, identify designated parking sites, and explore alternative parking options.
The commissioner instructed that the working group should include officers from the Traffic Police, Highways Department, Municipal Corporation, and other relevant departments to ensure that ground realities are taken into account and implementable solutions are proposed.
On the Commissioner’s directions, the Executive Engineer Highways presented details of estimates and recommendations prepared for the upgradation and beautification of the city’s three major flyovers, including Kacheri Road, Khayyam Chowk, and Islampura Flyover, in line with current requirements.
The meeting was attended by Director Development Bilal Hassan; MC Chief Officer Majid bin Ahmed; MD WASA Abubakar Umar; MD Horticulture Authority Muhammad Arshad; Executive Engineer Highways Malik Gulfam Awan; and officers from the Traffic Police, Public Health Engineering Department, and other relevant departments.
