Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday adjourned until September 19 the hearing of a post-arrest bail petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a case involving alleged provocative speeches and arson at Sherpao Bridge during the May 9 riots.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain heard the petition filed by the PTI leader.
During the proceedings, the prosecution sought more time to produce the case record. The defence counsel objected, saying the prosecution had already sought adjournments on several previous dates for production of the record.
The court directed the prosecution to produce the case record and adjourned further hearing of the bail petition until September 19.
Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan is currently in jail on judicial remand. He has been arrested in FIR No. 97/23 registered at Sarwar Road Police Station.
According to the investigating officer, the accused was present at the scene of the incident and was allegedly involved in making speeches and participating in arson and rioting at Sherpao Bridge along with other PTI leaders.
