Court defers indictment of Rajab Butt, four others in alleged rape case

Lahore: A sessions court on Tuesday deferred the indictment of YouTuber Rajab Butt and four other accused in a private complaint filed by TikToker Ayesha Jutt, who has alleged that she was sexually assaulted.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Yab Chadhar heard the case. The court could not frame charges against the accused as the counsel for accused Suleman Haider failed to appear.

The court subsequently fixed August 29 for framing charges against Rajab Butt and the other four accused.

All five accused appeared before the court and marked their attendance. They include Rajab Butt, Abdul Rehman, Jawad, Jahangir and Suleman Haider.

The court directed all the accused and their lawyers to ensure their presence at the next hearing.

Police had registered a case against the accused at Nawab Town police station over the alleged assault of Ayesha Jutt. During its investigation, police initially declared all the accused guilty. However, after subsequently declaring the suspects innocent, Ayesha Jutt filed a private complaint before the court, leading to the present proceedings.
