Islamabad

Islamabad:The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday sentenced a man to three years of rigorous imprisonment for assaulting a young girl under the pretext of spiritual treatment.

The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs 9.676 million as compensation to the victim.

The verdict was announced by Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti in a case heard at the District and Sessions Court Islamabad. Following the judgment, convict Nazir Khan, who was present in court, was taken into custody immediately.

According to the case record, complainant Saeedullah Jan had taken his sick niece, Zubaida Bibi, to Nazir Khan for spiritual treatment. During the session, the accused claimed he was removing a spirit from the girl and subjected her to repeated slaps on her face and ear.

The court heard that the assault caused serious injuries to the victim. As a result of the repeated blows, the eardrum in her left ear was ruptured, leading to permanent hearing loss.

The incident led to the registration of a criminal case against Nazir Khan at Koral Police Station. During the trial, evidence regarding the injuries and circumstances of the assault was presented before the court.

After examining the facts of the case, the court found the accused guilty and handed down a three-year prison sentence with hard labour. In addition to the jail term, the court directed the convict to pay Rs9,676,195 as diyat (compensation) to the victim.
