Customs seizes 1,200 kg of charas worth Rs 5.41 billion off M-2 Motorway

Islamabad: The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, has seized approximately 1,200 kg of charas, along with about 100 kg of poppy seeds, one firearm, and a non-customs-paid Toyota Prado (Model 2005) during an anti-smuggling operation conducted off the M-2 Motorway in the early hours of 2 October 2026.



Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Smuggling Squad of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, carried out the operation at approximately 02: 30 hours. The seized vehicle was allegedly being used to transport the contraband, said a release issued here on Friday.



The accused persons fled the scene under cover of darkness. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately Rs 5.40 billion in the international market. Including the vehicle and other seized items, the total estimated value of the seizure is approximately Rs 5.41 billion.



An FIR has been lodged against the unknown accused under [insert applicable legal provisions], and further investigation is underway.



The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, reaffirmed its commitment to preventing the smuggling of narcotics and other contraband and to taking action against those involved in such activities in accordance with the law.
