Quetta: Deputy Commissioner Jaffarabad Khalid Khan on Monday distributed certificates, mobile phones, free Ufone SIMs, one year of free internet date and various tool kits among 34 women.
In this regard, a ceremony was held in honor of 34 women who had completed vocational training under the empowerment project organized by Words Foundation Pakistan in Jaffarabad .
Provincial Head of the Institute of Rural Management (IRM) Rafiullah, Chief Executive Officer of Words Foundation Pakistan Hayat Jamali, District Education Officer Ms. Ayesha Bugti, Additional Deputy Commissioner Huzur Bakhsh, Ms. Aseefa Jamali and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Jaffarabad Khalid Khan said that equipping women with skills, education and modern technology is very important for the development of society.
He said that empowered women could not only play an important role in improving the economic condition of their families but would also create new employment opportunities by utilizing their skills.
He congratulated the 34 women who completed the training program and said that the provision of mobile phones, internet and toolkits would help them in putting the skills they have acquired into practice.
He said that women could take advantage of the opportunities to advertise their work, connect with customers and expand their small businesses through modern digital means.
The Deputy Commissioner said that such projects by the government and relevant institutions to empower women are commendable, which help in making women economically independent.
He hoped that the trained women would not only create respectable employment for themselves by utilizing their skills but could also set an example for other women.
During the ceremony, it was informed that under the project, women were provided with professional skills, digital literacy, financial awareness, basic life skills and business training, which all 34 women were successfully completed.
On completion of the training, the women were given certificates, mobile phones, free Ufone SIMs, one year of free internet data and toolkits, so that they could use the skills they learned to create employment and small business opportunities.
The project is being implemented by the Institute of Rural Management (IRM) Islamabad in collaboration with Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and PTCL Group, while Words Foundation Pakistan is supporting the project at the field level in Jaffarabad district.
Finally, Deputy Commissioner Khalid Khan and other participants congratulated all 34 women who completed the training on their success and expressed the hope that they would take full advantage of the training received and the support facilities provided to strengthen the foundation for a better, dignified and independent future.
