Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has ordered a seven-day inquiry into the Khyber district incident in which Malagori Police Station SHO Riaz Hussain Afridi was martyred in firing during an operation against the movement of non-custom-paid vehicles.
According to an official letter issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the CM took serious notice of the incident and, under Section 9(2) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act, 2017, directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry.
The letter specifically directed that DPO Khyber be removed from his office and attached to Police Headquarters until completion of the inquiry.
The inquiry has been ordered to be completed within seven days, with the IGP directed to submit a comprehensive report to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat at the earliest.
The report will examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, determine responsibility in accordance with law and recommend appropriate action to ensure accountability.
The incident occurred in the Malagori area of Khyber district, where SHO Riaz Hussain Afridi was martyred when police personnel came under firing while taking action against the movement of non-custom-paid vehicles.
