DC inspects fire safety arrangements at Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital


Bahawalpur: Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza visited Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital and reviewed fire safety and firefighting arrangements.



During the visit, the deputy commissioner received a briefing from the Medical Superintendent on the hospital’s fire safety measures, firefighting system and preparedness to deal with emergency situations. He inspected fire safety equipment, fire extinguishers, emergency exits and other safety arrangements installed in various sections and sensitive areas of the hospital, including the paediatric ward and emergency department.



The deputy commissioner was also briefed on the hospital’s emergency response mechanism, procedures for controlling fires and arrangements for the safe evacuation of patients, attendants and medical staff in the event of an emergency. Hassan Raza directed the hospital administration to ensure that all fire safety arrangements remained fully operational and in proper working condition at all times. He ordered regular inspection and maintenance of firefighting equipment, uninterrupted accessibility of emergency exits and the organization of practical emergency drills to assess preparedness.



He said the safety of patients, attendants and medical staff should be the top priority of hospital administrations. Effective coordination among all relevant departments and complete preparedness were essential to respond to any emergency promptly and efficiently, he added.



The DC directed strict compliance with all prescribed fire safety SOPs and ordered that any deficiency or flaw in fire safety or other protective arrangements in any section of the hospital be rectified immediately. He emphasized that every possible measure should be taken to protect human lives and ensure a swift, coordinated and effective response in the event of a fire or other emergency.
