Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting regarding the preparations for Independence Day celebrations, including the central flag-hoisting ceremony, the Independence Day parade, security arrangements, traffic management, and events across the federal capital.
Officials from key government departments attended the meeting and were directed to complete all remaining preparations before the national celebrations.
The meeting brought together representatives of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Police, Traffic Police, District Management Administration (DMA), Excise Department, Additional Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners.
Participants reviewed arrangements for the main flag-hoisting ceremony, which will be one of the central events marking Pakistan’s Independence Day in the federal capital. Officials discussed coordination among departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony and related activities.
The meeting also examined preparations for the Independence Day parade scheduled to be held at Parade Ground. Relevant departments briefed participants on operational planning, logistical arrangements, crowd management measures, and coordination among agencies involved in organizing the event.
Security planning remained a key agenda item. Officials presented details of the security strategy for Independence Day celebrations, including measures for public gatherings, official ceremonies, and events taking place across different sectors of Islamabad. Coordination between law enforcement agencies and district administration was also reviewed.
A briefing was also given on the traffic management plan for August 14. Authorities discussed traffic flow arrangements around major venues, parking facilities, road management measures, and steps aimed at reducing inconvenience for commuters during celebrations and public events.
The meeting reviewed plans for the decoration and illumination of important government buildings and public facilities across the city. Officials shared updates on ongoing work and informed participants about arrangements being made to mark the national occasion.
In addition to the main ceremonies, the meeting assessed preparations for a range of small and large events planned throughout Islamabad. These activities include community gatherings, cultural programs, public celebrations, and other Independence Day-related events expected to take place in different parts of the capital.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad emphasized the importance of coordination among all departments and instructed concerned institutions to complete their assigned tasks within the stipulated timeframe. He directed officials to maintain close communication and ensure that all arrangements are finalized ahead of the celebrations.
Participants were also asked to continue monitoring progress and address any outstanding issues promptly to avoid delays. The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Independence Day events are conducted in an organized manner with appropriate security, traffic management, and public facilitation measures in place.
The meeting concluded with a review of responsibilities assigned to various departments, while officials reaffirmed their commitment to completing preparations for August 14 celebrations across the federal capital.
