Kohat: Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz has imposed a 60-day ban on kite flying, unauthorized operation of drones and quadcopters, aerial firing and the use of firecrackers across the district under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.P.C.).
According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner on Monday, the ban on kite flying also covers the manufacture and sale of kites using chemical or metal strings, which can cause serious injuries, road accidents and disruptions to power transmission. The order will remain effective for 60 days with immediate effect.
The notification also prohibits unauthorized individuals and entities from operating drones and quadcopters, citing security concerns and the potential misuse of such devices near sensitive installations. Aerial firing and the use of firecrackers have also been prohibited, particularly in areas surrounding PAF Base Kohat, to safeguard human lives and vital national assets.
The district administration said the preventive measures had been taken to protect public safety and government property. It warned that violations of the order would be dealt with strictly under the law and offenders would be liable to action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
