Faisalabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nauman Sadiq has directed all civic and development departments to ensure streetlights fully operational and ordered daily monitoring and prompt repair of faulty lights to provide safe roads, improved traffic movement and better urban environment.
Chairing a meeting, he reviewed street lighting system of the city and measures taken to ensure uninterrupted illumination on major roads and public places.
He also checked progress in detail about making streetlights fully functional on major roads, key intersections, flyovers, underpasses and other important public locations across the city.
He said that an efficient street lighting system was imperative for improving urban infrastructure, enhancing beauty of the city and ensuring safety and convenience of citizens particularly during night-time travel.
He directed all concerned departments to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, commitment and close coordination to ensure immediate repair, maintenance and restoration of non-functional streetlights.
He further ordered that daily reports on the operational status of streetlights installed along all main roads, flyovers, underpasses and principal arteries of the city should be submitted regularly.
He also called for implementation of an effective monitoring mechanism to ensure timely identification and repair of faulty lights.
No negligence in the maintenance of street lighting network would be tolerated, he warned.
Deputy Director Development, officers of District Council, Municipal Corporation, Highway Department and other relevant departments were also present in the meeting.
