Dengue prevention measures to be strengthened amid weather change

Sargodha: Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Muhammad Arshad Wattoo on Tuesday directed the concerned departments to further strengthen preventive measures against the possible resurgence of dengue amid changing weather conditions.



He issued the directions while chairing a meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee, which reviewed in detail ongoing preventive and precautionary measures against dengue.



The ADC directed all concerned departments to ensure 100 percent implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dengue prevention and make anti-dengue activities more effective within their respective jurisdictions.



He said changing weather conditions could increase the chances of dengue mosquito breeding and there was no room for negligence or slackness in preventive measures.



He further directed authorities to ensure continuous monitoring of potential mosquito breeding sites, indoor and outdoor surveillance, cleanliness and effective monitoring of dengue hotspots.



Muhammad Arshad Wattoo also called for intensifying public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about preventive measures against dengue.



The Chief Executive Officer Health, District Health Officer and officers of other concerned departments attended the meeting and briefed the participants on anti-dengue measures, surveillance activities



and the future course of action.
