DHQ Gujranwala medicine recovery: Strict action initiated under PEDA Act


Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has taken strict action under the PEDA Act against four officials following the recovery of a large consignment of government medicines belonging to DHQ Hospital from a private warehouse in Gujranwala.



According to details, Additional Principal Woman Medical Officer (APWMO) of Gujranwala Teaching Hospital Dr. Shazia Afzal, Pharmacist Nighat Saeed, Storekeeper Muhammad Asghar and Ward Cleaner Daud Noor have been suspended. The suspended officials have been directed to report to the Health Department immediately.



Meanwhile, a fact-finding committee has been constituted to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter. The Director Monitoring will serve as the convener, while the Additional Secretary Technical, Deputy Secretary Technical and a representative of the Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala will be members of the committee.



The Health Department said further strict action would be taken against all other persons found responsible in light of the committee’s findings.
