DIG Ali holds six open courts in one day, orders quick relief for citizens

Islamabad

Islamabad: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad Ali Waseem held six open courts in a single day at G-6, G-9, F-6, F-7 and F-8 Markaz and at his office, directly hearing citizens’ complaints and ordering immediate action for their resolution on merit.

An official told reporter on Friday that the open courts were held on the directions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and IGP Islamabad Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to provide citizens easy access to senior police officers and quick relief in their problems.

A large number of citizens attended the open courts and presented their complaints directly to the DIG. Ali Waseem listened to their problems and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for necessary action.

The DIG Ali also heard complaints and objections from complainants regarding the investigation of their cases and directed officers to take prompt legal action in accordance with law and merit.

Protecting the dignity and legitimate rights of citizens is the responsibility of police, Ali Waseem said, adding that every public complaint would be dealt with according to law and merit.

He said the open courts were providing citizens a direct and open platform to present their problems and seek timely relief.

A citizen’s legitimate right is his strongest recommendation. Merit will be given priority in every matter, the DIG said.

Ali also directed police officers to move outside their offices and regularly hold open courts at convenient locations to make it easier for citizens to approach them.
