Islamabad: Pakistan has made significant progress in the digital transformation of public sector auditing with the development and implementation of the Audit Management Information System (AMIS) since 2022, a move aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency and accountability in audit processes across government institutions.
The Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan, AMIS has enabled complete digitalization of the audit process – from audit planning to final audit reporting, sources in AGP said adding the system has substantially enhanced audit efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency, strengthening public financial oversight in the country.
Audit Authorities confirmed that work is currently underway to expand AMIS for end-to-end digitialization, along with digital interfaces with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Principal Accounting Officers (PAOs) to improve coordination and real-time information sharing.
The drive also includes full operationalization of Center for Government Data Analytics at Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan which was inaugurated by the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue in December, 2025
Future plans also include the use of Big Data Analytics for conducting audit checks, for which four specialized software licenses have already been obtained by the Office of the Auditor-General of Pakistan.
Additionally, efforts are being made to address challenges related to digital data sharing through the adoption of Universal Business Language (UBL) standards.
These initiatives will further modernize Pakistan’s audit framework, promote transparency, and strengthen accountability across public sector institutions, they added.
