Quetta: Deputy Commissioner Musakhel Abdul Razaq Khajak on Thursday said that the district administration is utilizing all available resources for the accuracy of government records, timely collection of revenues, transparency of office affairs and prompt resolution of public issues.
He said this while chairing a review meeting regarding agricultural income tax and departmental matters.
The meeting was attended by officials of the Revenue Department.
The meeting reviewed in detail the collection of agricultural income tax in the district, gardaari, Chambandi records, stamp sale, government postage and other departmental and revenue matters.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razaq Khajak reviewed the current system of collection of agricultural income tax and the progress made in this regard and directed that the collection process should be made more effective and transparent.
He said that the timely collection of government revenues as well as maintaining accurate and complete records is the primary responsibility of the Revenue Department, therefore, no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
He laid special emphasis on ensuring accuracy and transparency in the survey of landowners and said that records related to crops and agricultural lands should be compiled according to the ground realities so that no injustice is done to any landowner and the official records are also correct.
He directed the Revenue Department staff to keep the revenue records updated regularly and any kind of error, irregularity or delay in the records should be avoided as much as possible.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed that all pending cases related to Chambandi be disposed of expeditiously according to merit and law, and said that the public should not have to wait unnecessarily for the resolution of revenue matters.
He urged the officers and officials to regularly review the pending cases and complete the action on them within the stipulated time, issues related to stamp sale were also reviewed in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to maintain the stamp records and other related documents as per the rules and regulations and ensure transparency in government affairs at all costs.
Abdul Razak Khajak also directed to ensure timely replies to official mail and office correspondence.
He also urged the officers to respond to official correspondence received from various departments and institutions within the stipulated time and not to keep office matters pending unnecessarily.
He said that delay in government affairs not only affects administrative efficiency but also causes difficulties to the public, therefore all officers and officials should perform their duties with full responsibility, honesty and within the stipulated time.
The Deputy Commissioner also laid special emphasis on the protection of the Sharia and legal rights of women and said that revenue matters related to women should be handled in a transparent manner in accordance with the law and Sharia principles.
He ordered that pending cases related to inheritance transfers be disposed of on priority basis and said that no hindrance or unnecessary delay in providing women with their legitimate inheritance rights would be acceptable.
He directed the officers of the Revenue Department to ensure merit, transparency and rule of law in revenue matters of a public nature and to provide facilities to every applicant as per the prescribed rules.
He instructed the officials of the Revenue Department to further improve their performance and ensure timely provision of revenue-related services to the public.
