Distt admin reviews preparations for 787th Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya

Multan: The district administration on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the three-day 787th annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani, scheduled to commence on July 20. Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem directed all departments to ensure smooth arrangements for the thousands of devotees expected to attend the religious event. The preparations were reviewed at a meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rashid Mehmood, Assistant Commissioner City Azki Sehar and senior officials of the district administration.



Representatives of the police, Auqaf Department, Municipal Corporation, Rescue 1122 and other departments briefed the meeting on security, traffic management, sanitation, emergency response and other operational plans for the Urs. Addressing the meeting, Dr Faisal Saleem said devotees would be provided every possible facility and directed the departments concerned to ensure effective security, improved cleanliness and efficient management throughout the three-day event. He said comprehensive arrangements should be made for pilgrims’ accommodation, food and traffic management to facilitate visitors.



The deputy commissioner instructed all district departments to establish camps at Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh during the Urs to provide round-the-clock services and maintain close coordination. He further directed the police to remain on high alert to respond promptly to any emergency, while comprehensive screening of the shrine premises and pilgrims’ accommodation sites would be carried out to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for devotees.
