Hyderabad: A meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) Hyderabad, was held on Monday in the committee room of the newly constructed Deputy Commissioner Complex under the chair of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abedin Memon.
The meeting focused on the upcoming National Immunization Days (NIDs) anti-polio campaign, scheduled from February 2 to February 8, 2026, and emphasized close coordination between all relevant departments.
According to a handout, addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for a multi-sectoral strategy, an effective micro-planning framework and improved staff training to ensure that every child under the age of five is reached and administered polio drops during the campaign.
District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain informed the meeting that during the previous campaign in Hyderabad Division, Hyderabad District delivered an outstanding performance. He reaffirmed the commitment to further enhance the effectiveness and reach of polio teams in the forthcoming drive.
Earlier, the Focal Person of the District Polio Eradication Committee gave a detailed briefing on campaign preparedness, coverage planning and coordination mechanisms.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners, members of the Divisional Task Force, representatives of Local Government Hyderabad, Police Department, PPHI District Management, PEI and EPI Hyderabad and officers from other relevant departments.
