Earthquake victims remembered at KPC prayer ceremony in Mirpur

Mirpur:The painful memories of the devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake remain deeply etched in the hearts of the people, with the loss of thousands of precious lives continuing to evoke grief, speakers said at a prayer ceremony held at the Kashmir Press Club (KPC) here on Thursday.



The ceremony was organized by the KPC to offer Fateha for the departed souls of those who lost their lives in the catastrophic earthquake. The speakers said the arrival of October 8 every year revived painful memories of the tragedy and the loved ones lost in the devastating disaster.



They prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate the ranks of the earthquake martyrs and grant patience and strength to the bereaved families. The participants also offered Fateha and prayed for the peace of the departed souls, recalling the immense human loss caused by the earthquake.



KPC Vice President Rana Shabir Rajourvi, former presidents Arshad Butt and Sajjad Jaral, Raja Khalil Yousaf, and senior journalists Zahid Bashir Chaudhry, Raja Javed Afzal, Chaudhry Zahoor-ul-Rasheed, Shiraz Bukhari, Raja Shafaqat Ali and Khawaja Shahid Iqbal attended the ceremony.
