Hyderabad: Election Commission of Pakistan,organized a meeting of INVR-V District Coordination Committee (IDCC), at the office of District Election Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad presided by District Election Commissioner Khalid Ahmed Mirza. The meeting reviewed in detail matters relating to gender gap between male and female voters and the issuance of new Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs). Representatives from NADRA, Education, Health, Social Welfare, Women Development, Local Government, Municipal Corporation, Information Department, National Disability and Development Forum, PODA, SMi Foundation, RDF, and other relevant organizations attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the existing gender gap between male and female voters, the status of voter registration, and the issuance of CNICs.
Various matters were also discussed to improve the situation through effective coordination and cooperation among the concerned institutions. District Election Commissioner Khalid Ahmed Mirza urged representatives of the concerned institutions to ensure effective coordination and cooperation for voter registration, particularly for addressing issues faced by women in electoral registration and obtaining identity documents. He further stated that, with the cooperation of NADRA, the Election Commission of Pakistan has established camps through the NADRA Mobile Van Service, where a significant number of women have been issued CNICs and subsequently registered as voters. He urged all members to support the Election Commission of Pakistan in creating awareness regarding voter registration so that more women can be registered as voters and the existing gap between male and female voters can be reduced.
