Peshawar:: Director General (DG), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, conducted a surprise inspection of Hayatabad Industrial Estate, Peshawar, accompanied by Director (Center), Deputy Director (HQ), and EPA/Laboratory staff.
The inspection was carried out in continuation of complaints received during the Khuli Kachehri held at the Office of the Director General, EPA.
During the visit, environmental compliance of various industrial units, including ZRK, Frontier Green Wood (Chipboard), Northern Bottling Co. Pvt. Ltd. (Pepsi-Cola), Faisal Plaster of Paris Units, and ARAR Incinerator, was monitored.
Various environmental and regulatory shortcomings were identified at different sites.
The Director General appreciated EPA KP’s continued efforts towards sustainable development and acknowledged the vital role of industry in economic growth.
He emphasized that development must go hand in hand with environmental protection and directed the concerned industries to address the identified shortcomings and ensure compliance with applicable environmental standards.
The Director General further directed that necessary legal action shall be initiated against violators in accordance with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Act, 2014 and relevant rules and regulations.
