Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of ice and hashish during an operation in Khyber.
According to details released by the department, a team of the Excise Police Station Khyber, acting on a tip-off, set up a checkpoint on the double road leading from Khyber towards Peshawar.
During the operation, the team intercepted a rickshaw bearing registration number GA-9928 and recovered 10 kilograms of ice and 8. 4 kilograms of hashish during a search.
The narcotics were seized and a case was registered at the Excise Police Station Khyber for further investigation and legal proceedings. The operation was carried out as part of the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and in line with the directives of Excise Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan.
The department said operations against narcotics, particularly the highly addictive drug ice, were continuing across the province.
The Excise Department reiterated its commitment to protecting the younger generation from the devastating effects of drug abuse and said indiscriminate action would continue against those involved in the trafficking and sale of narcotics.
It added that individuals involved in the illicit drug trade would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
