Fire breaks out at Children’s Hospital Lahore hostel, report issued

Lahore: A preliminary report regarding a fire that broke out on the fifth floor of the boys’ hostel of Children’s Hospital Lahore has been submitted, stating that the incident occurred in Room No. 511.



According to the report on Thursday, the fire started when a spark ignited an old non-inverter air conditioner installed in the room. The flames subsequently spread to curtains hanging beneath the air conditioner.



The hostel staff immediately responded and brought the fire under control within approximately three to five minutes, while the assistance of Rescue 1122 was not required. However, the incident generated a significant amount of smoke.



Professor Masood Sadiq, Vice Chancellor of the University of Child Health Sciences, said that fortunately, no casualty or injury was reported in the incident. He added that apart from the old air conditioner, no other damage was sustained.
