Bahawalpur: Additional Deputy Commissioner Mujahid Waseem Durrani chaired a meeting to review preparations and arrangements for the upcoming national anti-polio campaign in the district. Addressing the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said no child should be deprived of polio vaccination during the four-day national campaign scheduled to begin on September 21. He stressed that all relevant departments and polio teams must play their role effectively through a coordinated strategy to ensure complete eradication of the crippling disease. He directed members of the polio teams to perform their duties with full dedication and vigilance in the field and ensure that all children under the age of five received the prescribed polio drops during the campaign.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner ordered effective monitoring of both mobile and fixed vaccination teams and made it clear that the absence or negligence of polio teams in any area would not be tolerated. He also directed the authorities to take effective measures to create awareness among parents during the campaign and provide full support to teams working in the field.
Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Zeeshan Rauf, while briefing the meeting, said a target had been set to administer polio drops to 505,000 children during the upcoming campaign. He said the campaign would continue from September 21 to 24, during which mobile polio teams would visit households to administer vaccination drops to children. He added that special efforts would also be made to ensure vaccination of children who might be missed during the initial rounds.
Dr Zeeshan Rauf further said that 1,975 mobile teams and 89 fixed teams had been constituted for the campaign, while 402 area in-charges and 75 Union Council Monitoring Officers would perform monitoring duties during the drive. Officers from the Health Department and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
