Multan: Deputy Director Food Multan Ikraam Lothar said that the food supply chain across the city had been further strengthened in view of the upcoming holy month of Ramazan to ensure uninterrupted availability of wheat flour.
He said that as per directives of the provincial government, zero tolerance policy was being followed against hoarding, profiteering and misinformation. He said that strict monitoring will continue to keep the market stable during the month of Ramazan.
As per official rates, 10kg flour was being sold at Rs 905, while 20kg flour was available at Rs 1,810, ensuring relief to consumers, he added.
In a statement issued here, Director General Food Punjab Amjad Hafeez said that the situation of flour supply across the province remains completely stable with no shortage or crisis due to enhanced daily supply. He said that flour mills across Punjab have carried out record grinding of 32,365 metric tons of wheat, reflecting smooth operations and sufficient stock availability.
DG Food further said that under the government’s controlled release policy, 16,000 metric tons of wheat have been issued to flour mills at controlled rates to maintain price stability.
On January 09, approximately two million flour bags were supplied across the province, including more than 984,000 bags of 10kg and 20kg flour in the open market.
The DG emphasized that due to supply exceeding routine demand, there was no threat of any shortage.
