Sialkot: Police have arrested four nominated suspects in connection with the alleged abduction, torture and humiliating treatment of a citizen in the Sabaz Pir area of Sialkot,here on Saturday.
According to complainant Zeeshan Ali,the suspects allegedly lured him to Malipur,where they subjected him to physical assault,shaved his head and recorded a video of the incident.
He further alleged that he was kept in unlawful confinement for two days.
A video purportedly showing the incident later went viral on social media.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Capt.(Retd.),Dost Muhammad took notice of the incident and directed police to arrest the suspects nominated in the case.
Acting on the directions, Sabaz Pir Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Waqas Ali along with a police team, arrested all four nominated suspects namely as Ismail,Tahir,Fareed and Tanveer and placed them in custody.
DPO Dost Muhammad said protection of the dignity, life and property of citizens was the police’s top priority.
He said no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands or subject citizens to inhumane treatment.
He added that the investigation would be conducted strictly on merit and in accordance with the law to ensure that those found responsible were brought to justice.
