GC University announces fee reduction by 60 percent for various degree programs

Lahore: Government College University (GCU) has decided to significantly reduce the semester fees of various degree programs to provide more opportunities for higher education to students.

The fees of selected departments will be reduced by about 60 percent. According to the university administration, it has been decided to reduce the semester fees in some departments from Rs 68, 000 to Rs 30, 000.

The fee reduction will be applicable to the relevant departments in both the old and new campuses. According to sources, the decision to reduce the fees has been taken in view of the relatively low rate of admissions in these departments. The departments that have been included in this discount include Archaeology, Persian, Urdu, History and 10 other departments.

The administration says that the reduction in fees will provide students with better opportunities to get quality education without financial constraints, while the admission rate in these programs is also expected to increase.

Experts and GCU professors have praised the university’s move, saying that the reduction in fees will significantly reduce the financial burden on parents and make higher education more accessible and less expensive for deserving students. According to university officials, the aim of this decision is to promote various academic departments and provide quality education opportunities to as many students as possible.
