Sialkot: The Department of Zoology at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) organized a seminar on the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of coccidiosis in pigeons, a university statement said on Saturday.
Held in collaboration with the Office of Research,Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC),the seminar was conducted under the IRG-ORIC 2026-funded research project titled “In vivo Evaluation of Moringa oleifera and Azadirachta indica Against Coccidiosis and its Histopathological Effects in Pigeons”.
Principal Investigator,Dr.Asma Waheed Qureshi delivered the seminar,highlighting the histopathological effects of coccidiosis in pigeons and discussing the therapeutic potential of Moringa oleifera and Azadirachta indica in controlling the parasitic disease.
Faculty members and students attended the event, which provided a platform for discussing eco-friendly approaches to the prevention and treatment of parasitic infections in birds,particularly in the veterinary and poultry sectors.
The organizers acknowledged the financial support provided by ORIC,GCWUS for the research project.
