Islamabad: The price of gold in the country witnessed a sharp increase on Thursday, with the price of 24-karat gold rising by Rs13, 700 to Rs471, 936 per tola, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.
The price of 24-karat gold for 10 grams increased by Rs11, 746 to Rs404, 609, while the price of 22-karat gold for 10 grams rose by Rs10, 768 to Rs370, 905. In the international market, gold was quoted at $4, 495 per ounce, up by $137 from the previous session. Meanwhile, the price of silver also witnessed an increase, with 24-karat silver rising by Rs369 per tola to Rs7, 169.
The price of 24-karat silver for 10 grams increased by Rs317 to Rs6, 146, while international silver was quoted at $66. 90 per ounce, up by $3. 69. The gold rates were based on interbank exchange rates, with purity set at 999 for 24-karat gold, the association said.
