Goods transport fares reduced by 10pc after diesel becomes cheaper

Lahore: After reduction in the price of diesel, goods transport fares have been reduced by 10 per cent. The fares of Mazda, trailers and other goods-carrying vehicles have been reduced. Goods transporters have implemented the new reduced fares from today, after which the cost of transporting goods is expected to decrease.

On the other hand, a final decision has not yet been taken on the reduction in public transport fares. A meeting is expected today by public transporters on the issue of reducing fares, after which a reduction in fares is likely to be announced. Efforts are underway by the Punjab Transport Department to persuade public transporters to also reduce fares by 10 percent.

According to sources, the Transport Department is trying to pass on the benefits of the reduction in diesel prices to passengers using public transport. The final situation regarding the reduction in fares is likely to become clear after the meeting of public transporters in a day or two.
