Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the quality of treatment and modern healthcare facilities being provided to patients at the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology (JIC).
During his visit to the hospital, the provincial health minister chaired a meeting and reviewed patient care and administrative affairs in detail. He said that, in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, patients visiting the hospital would be provided medical facilities at par with international standards.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology was the first international-standard hospital being established at a cost of Rs16 billion with a capacity of 250 beds. He expressed pleasure over the availability of state-of-the-art medical facilities, including Cath Labs, MRI, modular operation theatres, cardiac wards, pathology and radiology laboratories, ICU, emergency ward, a functional heart transplant centre, Angio Suite, diagnostic rooms and OPD facilities.
He said that the installation of advanced medical equipment, including the latest heart-lung machine and Tesla MRI, would help ensure modern and effective treatment for cardiac patients.
The provincial minister said that doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff should serve patients with dedication and a spirit of patriotism. He stressed that doctors and hospital staff should consider their professional responsibilities as a trust from Allah Almighty and perform every duty with honesty and commitment.
Khawaja Salman Rafique also visited the emergency department, OPD and other sections of the hospital and inspected the available facilities.
During the meeting, Chairman Chief Minister Advisory Committee for Cardiology Dr Farqad Alamgir, CEO IDAP Captain (retd) Shah Meer Iqbal, COO Maira Ali, Dean Professor Dr Hasnat Khan, MS JIC Colonel (retd) Dr Sabrina Jamil and other officers were present.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood was also present on the occasion.
The Punjab health minister reviewed the administrative affairs of the hospital in detail and issued directions for further improvement in administrative arrangements to ensure efficient delivery of healthcare services.
