HERA issues notice to Garrison College of Allied Health Sciences over unlawful operations

District

Peshawar:Higher Education Regulatory Authority (HERA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a formal notice to the management of Garrison College of Allied Health Sciences in Karak over the unlawful operation of dozens of unapproved academic programs warning of potential blacklisting and criminal prosecution under the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to official documents, the institution is strictly registered and authorized to offer only a single degree program, the Bachelor of Studies in Generic Nursing (GBSN). However, a regulatory audit revealed that the college has been actively advertising and running an extensive range of unapproved courses on the same premises without obtaining the mandatory legal and regulatory authorizations.

Furthermore, the unauthorized curriculum currently being offered includes seven Associate Degree Programs, four BS Programs and fifteen Diploma Programs.

In its directive, HERA declared that the unauthorized operation of these twenty-six programs constitutes a prima facie violation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Registration and Functioning of Private Educational Institutions Ordinance, 2001 (as amended in 2002). The regulatory body explicitly noted that the college’s conduct amounts to misrepresentation and fraud, carrying significant legal ramifications.

Additionally, HERA has formally contacted the Registrars of Gomal University in D.I. Khan and the Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology in Peshawar. Both universities have been directed to immediately suspend their academic affiliations with the Garrison College.
