HYDERABAD:On the orders of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Energy, indiscriminate actions were being taken against electricity thieves in the HESCO region and so far progress has been made to file FIRs against 285 people in the region for electricity theft while 94 cases have been registered and 26 individuals were arrested.
HESCO spokesperson informed on Monday that for registering FIRs, 111 letters have been submitted to the concerned police stations in circle Hyderabad, 72 in circle Laar, 35 in circle Mirpurkhas and 67 in circle Nawabshah.
According to details 38 letters have been submitted in operation division Gaari khata of circle Hyderabad, 4 in Latifabad II, 26 in Latifabad I, 26 in Tando Allayar and 17 in Qasimabad, similarly, 24 letters have been submitted for registration of FIRs in Kotri division of circle Laar, 15 in Phulelli, 18 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 7 in Thatta and 8 in Badin. During the ongoing operations against electricity thieves, 14 letters for registration of cases were submitted in Nawabshah, 4 in Matiari, 12 in Tandoadam and 5 in Sanghar. On the other hand, 32 letters have been submitted in MirpurKhas, 28 in Degree and 7 in Umarkot of circle MirpurKhas.
The spokesperson shared that a total of 94 cases have been filed against electricity thieves in the HESCO region. Among these, 6 cases were registered in operation division Gaari Khata circle Hyderabad, 2 in Latifabad (II), 8 in Latifabad (I), 26 in Tando Allahyar and 4 cases registered in Qasimabad, while 2 cases were filed in operation division Kotri of circle Laar, 10 in Phulelli, 2 in Tando Mohammad Khan, 4 in Tando Adam and 4 cases were registered in Badin, similarly, 7 cases were filed in operation division Nawabshah of circle Nawabshah and three cases were reported in operation division Mirpurkhas of circle Mirpurkhas, 10 in Digree and 6 cases were file in Umerkot, following the registration of cases, 26 suspects have been arrested. While an amount of dues exceeding 3.5 million rupees was also recovered during this campaign.
