Quetta: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan Muhammad Tahir has unveiled a comprehensive plan to modernize the provincial police force following the integration of the Balochistan Levies.
Speaking at the Police Training College (PTC) Quetta, the IGP emphasized that the transition aims to equip personnel with cutting-edge technology and advanced training to effectively combat terrorism and serious crime.
During his visit, the IGP reviewed the progress of former Levies personnel undergoing specialized transition training. He stressed that the introduction of modern policing methods is crucial for the safety of citizens in geographically largest province.
“We are reshaping the force on modern lines,” IGP Tahir said. “By introducing our personnel to the latest technology and intelligence-led policing, we are ensuring that the Balochistan Police remains a formidable shield against anti-state elements.”
Accompanied by senior officials including Commandant PTC Shehzad Akbar and DIG Special Branch Tahir Alauddin, the IGP inspected several critical training modules.
Personnel demonstrated proficiency through a live drill, neutralizing explosives with advanced equipment.
Rigorous instruction in anti-terrorism tactics, intelligence gathering, and modern surveillance techniques.
Training focused on institutional strength, discipline, and public service ethics.
The IGP underscored that Balochistan’s peace is vital to the stability of the entire country. He praised the police force for their dedication, noting they are fighting a ‘battle of survival’ against criminals and terrorists with unmatched bravery.
“Balochistan is a sensitive and vital province. Our priority is to establish lasting peace through a well-trained, technologically equipped, and institutionally strong workforce,” he said.
IGP Tahir paid tribute to the martyrs of the Balochistan Police, reaffirming that their sacrifices would not be in vain. He stressed that the force remains ready to make any sacrifice to uphold the rule of law and protect the lives of the public.
